Flora P.

Private tutor in Brighton, United Kingdom

Education

Final year Anthropology undergraduate at the University of Sussex

Experience

School grades: 10 GCSEs A*-B grade; AS level Art (A), Psychology (C); A level French (B), Sociology (B); Art Foundation (Pass) I have worked as an aupair in France for 3 and a half months speaking only in French so my French standard of speaking is pretty high. I have also done the same in Italy but speaking in English. This was in order for the children to learn English, and I would consider this first-hand experience in teaching children. I have also done work experience in a Primary school helping in a class of 9-10 year olds, and completed an intensive 20-hour TEFL course. During college I completed courses in Peer-Mentor training and the 'A PAUSE' program, which were both designed towards teaching, helping and counselling younger students in the school. I did a year abroad in Copenhagen as part of my degree and whilst there provided a proof-reading service to non-English students writing their essays in English. I enjoy learning and appreciate what a valuable experience having a private tutor would be to a student. I like to teach and am good at it, and I feel it is an important and valuable thing to be able to pass on knowledge. I am passionate about my course at university, but am well-rounded academically so have the ability to tutor in a wider range of subjects. Working as an aupair has given me a great deal of patience and the ability to engage with children in ways which interest them, which is a skill i can transfer to tutoring, whether it be tutoring college students or younger.

Hobbies

I love to travel and experience new places and cultures and have spent time living in France, Denmark and Italy as well as travelling in Kenya. I love to read and watch films and am also a fan of art. I enjoy the outdoors and like walking and swimming in the sea, and also love cycling (although it is more fun in Copenhagen where there are no hills!!). I really enjoy cooking, and experimenting with new recipes, which I think reflects the fact that I am outgoing and enjoy having new experiences as much as I am able to.
