Experience
I achieved A*A*B at A level as well as an A grade in AS History. I also achieved an EPQ (extended project qualification) on the subject of "Religion and the Formation of the American Constitution." which allowed me to indulge my interests in History, Politics and Law. The EPQ is a self study qualification, through which A level students are able to spend a 6 month period studying a topic of their choosing, before submitting a 5,000 word essay summing up their process and findings, as well as a presentation on their subject matter. A key part of my academic success has been my ability to express ideas clearly and concisely under examination conditions. I received excellent tutoring from my teachers at A level on how to structure essays, utilise quotes effectively and balance an argument. I feel that the ability perform these tasks effectively is crucial to a students level of attainment. Fortunately, as with subject knowledge, such skills can be taught and I know from personal experience the hugely positive effect that good tutoring in these key areas can have on final grades. I also have a keen interest in the subjects I teach and have an in depth knowledge not only of the core materials that a student will need to study, but also of "orbiting" materials that students may wish to incorporate into their learning in order to improve their understanding.
