Experience
I want to be a tutor because I believe that this will provide me with valuable experience for my future career teaching History in a secondary school environment, whilst also being an interesting and rewarding way to earn money to help me through my History degree. I have always loved school and learning, and have a great passion for the subjects that I wish to tutor. I also believe that my recent experience of the secondary school education system and the rigorous examination which I have undergone has left me well-prepared to assist students currently going through this, often challenging, process and help them to achieve the best that they can. I have achieved excellent A level and GCSE grades in all of the subjects that I wish to tutor, and I believe that this is indicative not only of my hard-working attitude, but also of the knowledge of how best to prepare for examinations as well as succeed generally in academic subjects. Throughout my time at Secondary School, I have been involved in programmes such as the '7 Cs of Learning' initiative, which involved getting to know Key Stage Three students during a one-to-one dialouge and assessing their strengths and weaknesses using selected criteria. I have also been involved in the 'Adopt a Teacher' programme at Kesgrave Sixth Form which involved shadowing a memeber of the History falculty and assisting with lessons in a number of ways, for example; working with children one-on-one or in small groups, supervising class discussion and activities and helping with IT projects. Therefore, although I have no formal tutoring experience I do have informal experience in a similar field, which I feel has left me well-prepared to be a tutor.
